MSA CULTURAL TOURS NEWSLETTER
JULY 2016

Dear Fellow Travelers,

We hope you are enjoying the lovely early days of summer and getting ready to celebrate the 240th birthday of the USA. The 2016 MSA Cultural Tours Travel Season got off to a great start with a tour to the beautiful Azores in May. The tour was lead by Tony Cabral and given the very positive feedback we have received it was a wonderful experience enjoyed by all. Congratulations, Tony, on a job well done!

GREECE OCTOBER 3O – NOVEMBER 9, 2016

We still have openings for our Greece tour, which will include the highlights of ancient Greece including Olympia, Mycenae, Corinth, Delphi, and the magnificent theater of Epidaurus. We will also have four nights in Athens to see the Acropolis, National Archaeological Museum, Temple of Zeus, and Changing of the Guard. We urge you to Register now and not miss this opportunity to see the wonders of Classical Civilization. Complete information and Registration forms are on the MSA website: www.msaculturaltours.com

Just a quick word on immigrants in Greece which some of you have asked about. Tourism is the heart of the Greek economy and immigrants are in camps far from the tourist areas and on distant islands of Lesbos and Kos. While terrorism is a world concern (The Boston Marathon, Sacramento, and Orlando being examples) there are NO immigrant issues in Greece affecting tourism.

2017 TOURS

CUBA SPRING 2017

We continue to hold the spring, 2017 open in hope of a Cuban tour. The U.S. government recently approved 150 weekly scheduled flights to Cuba which will be much cheaper and more convenient than current charter flights like the one Louise and I took to Cuba last March. These flights are still awaiting the approval of the Cuban government. We will wait and see how tourist conditions evolve over the next months and then decide if a Cuban tour is feasible. If conditions are favorable we will move forward with plans for the tour; if not, we will organize an alternate tour, possibly to the Canadian Maritime Provinces and French Canada.

SICILY - OCTOBER 26 - NOVEMBER 7, 2017

This tour will be in collaboration with Tony Miraglia, with whom I will be team teaching a course on Ancient Rome and Sicily for Second Half next spring. There will be complete details about this tour on the MSA website in the early fall, 2016.
