MSA CULTURAL TOURS
FEBRUARY 2019 NEWSLETTER

Dear Fellow Travelers,

Louise and I hope your 2019 New Year is off to a good start. We took an enjoyable 10-day cruise to Cuba for Azamara in December and will do Cuba again for Seabourn in November. In two weeks, we fly to Hong Kong for a two-week cruise on Seabourn that will include Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Singapore. We have managed to keep very busy, Louise as usual is extremely busy organizing the Annual MSA Congress which will be in Rethymnon, Crete in May, Ben is finishing a course he is teaching on the ‘Ancient Near East and the Crusades” for the Institute for Life Long Learning at Indian River College. In sum, it has been a very busy winter.

MSA CULTURAL TOURS ORIGINS OF MODERN PORTUGAL OCTOBER 12 – 22, 2019

We have a very exciting trip planned to  Portugal in October. We will visit the seminal sites in Portugal related to the historical and cultural evolution of that marvelous country. Among the sites to visit are Evora, Coimbra, Tomar, Fatima, Conimbraga, Guimaraes, Batalha,  Porto, Obidos, Alcobaca, Sintra and the last four night in beautiful Lisbon at the 5-star Fenix Hotel. Complete details regarding the tour and registration forms can be found on the MSA Cultural Tours Website at:www.msaculturaltours.com

Please note that we only plan to take 25 people on this tour. Many of you have indicated your intention to participate but have not signed up for the tour yet. Since this tour is offered in partnership with the Second Half Life Long Learning Institute, we need to reserve space on the tour for students enrolled in the ‘Origins of Portugal Class’ that Tony Miraglia and I will be teaching in the spring. That means a limited number of openings are available to those not in the class. So, if you plan to join us, please, please, do not delay and get your registrations in. As in the 2017 tour to Sicily and 2018 to Greece, Tony and Kathy Miraglia will join us to contribute their artistic knowledge to the enrichment of the tour.

FUTURE TOURS

At present Louise and I are exploring several possibilities for a tour in October 2020. One possibility is to the Holy Land, a venue we considered seriously for 2019 until we selected Portugal. Another possibility is the Adriatic from Trieste to Dubrovnik and a third is Sardinia. While we explore those possibilities, we welcome feedback you may have regarding these destinations as well as other possibilities. Let the thought that spring is only a little over a month away keep you warm.

Very best wishes to everyone for a happy and healthy 2019,

Louise and Ben Taggie
