MSA CULTURAL TOURS NEWSLETTER - Winter 2011/2012

Dear Fellow Travelers,

We are sending you additional information on the MSACT trip to Sicily and Malta in November 2012, since we have had many inquiries about this tour. Following is the most up to date information we have, and an explanation for the delay in getting more information to you in the FELLOW TRAVELERS NEWSLETTER.
The reason for the delay is that while we have the itinerary we have not been able to finalize/confirm transportation details. Airlines will not give airfares more than 11 months out and we have not been able to obtain firm schedules on Air Malta flights from Catania to Valletta, or for ferry service from Ragusa to Malta for November. Consequently, we have been forced into a temporary holding pattern on finalizing specific details (and price) for the tour.

Here is what we can tell you at this time:

Tentative dates for the Sicily/Malta Tour will be November 3 – 15, 2012.

The itinerary is to spend 5 days in Sicily and 5 days in Malta. While in Sicily we will spend two days in Taormina (hopefully at the Villa Schuler) and three days in Syracusa and Noto.

During the 5 days in Malta we will be working with Margaret Frendo, a professional tour guide and wife of my good friend and eminent historian, Professor Henry Frendo. While in Malta we will operate out of Valletta (which was built by the Knights of Malta) and after seeing Valletta we will make excursions to see the extraordinary archaeological and cultural sites of Malta and the neighboring Island of Gozo.

I will make every effort to have a website presentation of the Sicily/Malta Tour on the MSACT website before we depart for the South Pacific in early February. We anticipate this tour will fill very fast so if you would like to be placed on a waiting list please send an email to msaculturaltours@comcast.net. In the meantime, if you have any questions at all regarding the Sicily/Malta tour please e-mail me (btaggie@umassd.edu) or call 508-264 4854.

Final reminder, there are still TWO places left for the Road to Santiago Tour next May, they would make a wonderful holiday present.

Happy Holidays,

Louise & Ben
